Okay so I thought why not blog on the things that people really want to ask me but don't! So I am going to fill you ALL in on some privy information!
Lesson ONE get a good Bra and cute workout wear! What do you do when you can't fit or find workout wear or bra?? Well there is hope! First lets take care of the girls..... when I started bootcamp I wore 3 bra's....yes 3. Why? because it's important to keep the girls secure! My favorite bra is the Champion Powerback underwire. Ahhh yes it's nice because it keeps them supported and apart so you don't look like you have that uni-boob. Can I say boob? I'm gonna say boob cuz it's my blog, sorry if I offend you :) Then I would add a Champion sports bra over that, Target sells them up to XXL and they come in lots of fun colors... bonus! Then often I would have a tank top with a shelf bra built in which would serve as the final support. Add all that together and your girls are safe and secure! Next workout wear: Sorry not a lot of choices here, but Walmart does carry plus size workout pants and shirts at a good price, otherwise Lane Bryant carries a good line but it's expensive. I say go with black pants, gray ones show your butt sweat. Can I say butt? LOL and stay with the pants ladies, sorry shorts just do NOT look good..... Not yet... but they will!
Now when working out it IS important to look good, or at least coordinate:) Not to impress others, but if YOU think you look good which you do, then you will walk a bit more confident and feel like you look good! Who cares what others think... although I have been known to get a few comments that my outfit matches my shoes.... yes I have a problem!
LESSON TWO : buy good shoes! If you need WIDE go buy wide, your feet need to feel happy :) trust me when you loose the weight your feet shrink too!!!!
LESSON THREE: be able to breath! Breathing.... it's important, although my trainer doesn't think so..... I'm kind of partial to breathing! I am a former smoker. YEP, smoked a pack a day for 10 years. I spent a year working out and still felt like I could NOT breath. See your physician it may be as simple as getting a good inhaler. That is what has worked for me to get through the workouts. And if you have a good trainer like I do, tell them you want to work on your cardio. WARNING!!! you may not like what they are going to do next! For me it has been the dreaded beep test, but it does help and I have defiantly improved. I now feel like I have close to normal lungs and not the lungs of a 90 year old chain smoker. Oh and if you still smoke.... Quit! simple as that, (or get pregnant like I did and force yourself to quit)
LESSON FOUR: eat non processed food! I must say I am glad I am at where I am at now. I was a pop addict, sugar addict, carb, fat and you name it addict. I went into this with the idea that WILL POWER could get me through. Wrong! In Friday's class Jay Altman spent a bulk of his time talking about changing the way you think. He's right. even thought I thought he was wrong for about 6 months, he was right.... ugh I hate when he is right. LESSON 5 listen to your trainer (maybe that should be lesson one) If you don't change how you think..... YOU WILL FAIL. You can't try and loose weight or change who you are without changing how you think. It's just NOT possible for the long term. Let me tell you some examples: When I eliminated Gluten, Sugar, Dairy for 3 months all I could think about was "I can't wait to get off this so I can have this and that again" What do you think would happen if after 3 months of REALLY hard work if I sat down and had all those things again? I would die... no just kidding! That 3 months of hard work would have been for nothing! I would have put back in what I just spent 3 months trying to rid myself of. And working out, I hated working out. I loved the socializing, I still love the socializing but I would think in my head.. "I can't wait until I don't have to workout so hard" Not gonna happen! Strong, healthy, thin people..... WORKOUT! You have to if you want to have a body like that in your 40's..... sorry no way around it! Now I LOVE to workout and I even love... okay love is a little strong I like to get sore. So you see you HAVE to change how you think! I wish I would have learned that in the beginning I would have saved myself a whole lot of frustration to begin with!!
THE ULTIMATE LESSON: Change your brain and you WILL change your body!
That's all I have, have a great week!
Jen
